Man Sentenced To One-year Imprisonment In South Africa For Calling His Colleagues "Uneducated Baboons"

A 57-year-old man, Nicco Adolph Kallerma has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by a Phalaborwa Magistrate’s Court in South Africa for referring to his colleagues and other patrons as "uneducated baboons".
Kallerman was convicted of crimen injuria and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment or twenty thousand rands (R20, 000) fine on Thursday, 26 August 2021.
Limpopo Police said that half of the sentence was suspended for five years on condition that the accused does not commit similar offences.
The sentence comes after an incident that occurred on Thursday, 07 May 2020, in which Kallerman, who was on duty at Foskor mine argued with the Labour Union Representatives.
"The argument escalated to a level where he called them uneducated baboons. Police were notified and a case of crimen injuria was ultimately opened and assigned to the dedicated Detective Warrant Officer Nakampe Snyman Malatji," added Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.

A 2-year-old boy has been confirmed dead after his babysitter forgot him inside a hot car for three hours.
Arthur Oliveira dos Santos was being looked after by babysitter Glaucia Aparecida Luiz, 35, who reportedly ran an "unauthorised daycare centre" in her home in Sao Paulo, Brazil, police said.
According to police statement, Arthur was tragically forgotten and spent the afternoon in a boiling hot car under the scorching sun, outside the suspect's home.
Officers rushed to the scene on Wednesday, August 25, after the boy was discovered, The Sun reports.
They rushed the boy to the hospital but he was confirmed dead on arrival.
It is thought the child died of suffocation and dehydration, but an autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death will be taking place soon.
Police say the suspect and her daughter took care of more than 10 children in their home and described it as an "irregular daycare centre".
The babysitter has been arrested on suspicion of murder and currently remains in custody, according to local media reports.
The suspect's lawyers said: "There was never the intent to bring about such an outcome".
Her defence team said in a statement: "Glaucia and her family have been collaborating closely with the investigation to clarify the facts, not least because Glaucia did not intend to bring about the child’s death or harm him.
"The defence passes on our condolences and the most sincere condolences of Glaucia and her family to the boy’s relatives."
Arthur was buried in a cemetery in Macatuba on Thursday afternoon, August 26.

Woman Discovers She’s Pregnant Just Four hours Before Giving Birth
Lorna was shocked to find out she was pregnant and already in labour just four hours before she gave birth to her daughter.

A woman was left in shock after she discovered she was 38 weeks pregnant just four hours before she gave birth to a baby girl.
Lorna Goodings, 25, had thought her baby bump was just bloating and doctors put her swollen tummy down to the effects of her birth control.
She even did a pregnancy test in July 2021, when she's believed to have been 38 weeks pregnant, and the result came back negative. She did another test on the day she gave birth and it was still negative.
As a result, Lorna was shocked to find out she was pregnant and already in labour just four hours before she gave birth to her daughter, Daphne Burdiak, at Northampton General Hospital, Northampton, on August 1.
She was at a friend's party when she felt pain so was rushed to the hospital only to discover she was in labour.
She says: "When I went into labour, I was at a party with my friends, and I was in pain all day.
"It got so bad that my friends took me to the hospital, and medics told me I was 38 weeks pregnant and in labour.
"I couldn’t believe it."
Lorna said it was a surprise for her and her partner, Nick Burdiak, 42, a machine operator, who couldn’t make it for the birth as he was on a night out with his friends.
Lorna continued: "I didn’t even tell Nick – as I knew he would have had too many pints and wouldn’t understand.
"It’s been a massive shock, but baby Daphne is just amazing."
Lorna, who had her first child Vivienne, in June 2020, now has two kids both under 13 months.
Explaining why she didn't know she was pregnant, Lorna said: "I had the contraceptive implant in October but started feeling really rubbish pretty soon after.
Taliban Government To Ban Music In Afghanistan, Speaks On Women Covering Themselves

The Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, told the New York Times that while women will eventually be allowed to return to work and go on trips to school, and hospitals, they would need a male chaperone for trips that last several days.
He added that music will be banned in the country.
He said, "Music is forbidden in Islam, but we're hoping that we can persuade people not to do such things, instead of pressure them."
According to him, things will be different under this Taliban rule than the previous regime.
In reaction to reports that the Taliban is already extracting vengeance on those who opposed them, Mujahid said, "We want to build the future and forget what happened in the past."
He suggested that women will be allowed to return to their jobs in the future as long as they wear a head covering. He added that concerns that the Taliban would once again force women to stay inside or cover their faces are baseless.
He also said those with proper travel documents will be able to leave the country, and that his regime will not hunt down former interpreters and others who have worked with the American military over the years.
Muhajid, however, expressed frustration at American evacuation efforts.
He said, "They shouldn't interfere in our country and take out our human resources: doctors, professors and other people we need here. In America, they might become dishwashers or cooks. It's inhuman."
But, he said he was still hopeful that the Taliban could build good relationships with the international community, saying they have already cooperated with international leaders on issues like counterterrorism, opium eradication and the reduction of refugees to the West.
Mujahid's remarks came a day after he announced at a press conference that women should remain inside "until we have a new procedure" in place, while the Taliban trains its forces not to harass women.
He said, “We are worried our forces, who are new and have not been yet trained very well, may mistreat women. We don't want our forces, God forbid, to harm or harass women."
He noted that women's salaries will be paid in their homes, echoing what Ahmadullah Waseq, the deputy of the Taliban’s cultural affairs committee, told the Times: that the Taliban has "no problems with working women" as long as they wear hijabs.
18-year-old Boy Arrested For Plotting To Murder Asian Friend After He Slept With White Girls
He was arrested after an undercover cop caught him allegedly spreading hateful literature and discussing terrorist plans.
The police have arrested a teenager for allegedly plotting to murder his Asian friend because he slept with three ‘white girls’, which he described as a violation of nature.
Matthew Cronjager, who is said to be a ‘racist, antisemitic and Islamaphobic’ teenager was arrested on December 29, 2020 after an undercover cop caught him allegedly spreading hateful literature and discussing terrorist plans.
The teenager from Essex in UK, reportedly used the messaging platforms Telegram and Theema to exchange messages with other white nationalists.
While allegedly discussing using a 3D printer to create guns last November, Cronjager supposedly told the undercover officer;
‘I’ve found someone I want to execute.
‘I know it’s an overall target and he’s a sand n***** that f***** a white girl. In fact I think three of them. They’re like cockroaches.
‘Do you know what’s weird. I was friends with him for ages and I can just kill him like that. I have no hang ups about doing it. He crossed the line.’
The undercover cop then asked whether the girls had been raped and Cronjager is accused of saying;
‘Nope, but it’s a violation of nature.
‘We’re not supposed to mix race … It’s not rape by legal definition but it’s kind of like rape if that makes sense. Violation at least.’
Cronjager is also accused of planning to build an underground bunker to house dangerous weapons for a ‘white revolution’. He reportedly discussed this in a group chat which supposedly believed that ‘pure whiteness was preferable’ in a society but segregation would be fine if they ‘had to compromise’.
The court also heard that after George Floyd was murdered by a police officer in the US, Cronjager allegedly said;
‘All this stuff about “I can’t breeefff” is complete s-t’. He then went on to talk about ‘anti-white racism’.
The court heard Conjager bought into ‘various racist tropes’, such as blaming Jewish people for both world wars and the conflict in the Middle East.
Prosecutor Alistair Richardson said;
‘As of 2019-20 (Conjager) held radical, extreme right-wing beliefs.
‘To use his own word, “fascist” beliefs. He wanted to bring about a change of government by violence.
‘He hated people of different colour skin, he hated Jews, he hated Muslims, he hated people of different sexual orientation to his own.
‘He hated Asians who had sexual intercourse with white people.’
Cronjager was accused of allegedly using a 3D printer to draw up plans for a storage bunker to keep firearms and ammunition. ‘I really just want a glock or something ,’ he wrote in one message.
Mr Richardson concluded by saying;
‘You can see the defendant not just wanting a firearm, but also ammunition for it. In other words, he wanted to be able to use that firearm.’
In April 2019, he downloaded information about explosives, home-made silencers and firearms, jurors were told. He is also alleged to have saved a video on his phone of the Christchurch terror atrocity in New Zealand in which 51 people were killed and 40 injured.
Mr Cronjager however denied engaging in conduct in preparation for terrorist acts between 31 October and 19 December. He has pleaded not guilty to disseminating terrorist publications through "a library" on the encrypted messaging app Telegram.
Afghan Refugees Arrive In Uganda
The Government of the Republic of Uganda this morning received Fifty one evacuees from Afghanistan who arrived aboard a privately chartered flight at the Entebbe International Airport.
A flight carrying Afghan evacuees fleeing the Taliban takeover of their country touched down early Wednesday in Uganda where they will be given temporary refuge, government and diplomatic officials said.
“The Government of the Republic of Uganda this morning received Fifty One (51) evacuees from Afghanistan who arrived aboard a privately chartered flight at the Entebbe International Airport,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.
It said it followed a request from the US government to temporarily host “at-risk” Afghan nationals and others who are in transit to the United States and other destinations worldwide.
The US embassy in Kampala thanked Uganda for its “generosity and hospitality toward these communities”.
“The Government of Uganda and the Ugandan people have a long tradition of welcoming refugees and other communities in need,” the embassy posted on Twitter.
Uganda hosts one of the largest refugee populations in the world — nearly 1.5 million according to the United Nations, mainly from neighbouring South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
US Tallest Man Dies At 38

The tallest 'living' man in the US according to the Guinness World Records in 2010, Igor Vovkovinskiy, lost his life on Friday, August 20 at the age of 38, his mother, Svetlana Vovkovinska has revealed.
Vovkovinskiy was 7 feet, 8.33 inches tall, according to Guinness World Records.
He died in a hospital after suffering from heart disease with his mom and brother by his side, according to a Facebook post by his mum, Svetlana.
Just hours before his death, Vovkovinskiy was able to spend time with his brother's family and had his last dinner, which was a piece of Kyiv cake and Fanta.
Vovkovinskiy moved from Ukraine to Rochester, Minnesota, in 1989, for a pituitary gigantism, according to a TV segment he did on "The Dr. Oz Show" in 2010.
During that segment, Guinness World Record officials measured Vovkovinskiy's height and crowned him the new Tallest Living Man in America. He was 27 years old at the time and beat out the previous record holder, Virginia deputy sheriff George Bell, by a third of an inch, according to Guinness.
He became popular after meeting former US president Barack Obama in 2009. Obama noticed him after he had a 'World's biggest Obama supporter's sign inscribed on his shirt.
"It feels good to finally have proof that I am the Tallest Man in America," said Vovkovinskiy in 2010.
"Everyone is always asking me if I'm certain that I'm the tallest and I was never able to prove it. Now that I have this certificate to hang on my wall, I could finally show it!"
Before his death, he wore a shoe size 24 10-E, said Guinness, and faced daily challenges of fitting into cars and finding comfortable shoes.
Guinness says the tallest living man in the world now is Sultan Kosen from Turkey, who measures 8 feet, 2.8 in tall. The tallest man in history is Robert Pershing Wadlow. He was from Illinois and measured 8 feet, 11.1 in tall. He died in 1940.

She was sworn in at the stroke of midnight Tuesday, taking control of a state government desperate to get back to business after months of distractions over sexual harassment allegations against Andrew Cuomo.
The ABC 7 reports that the Democrat from western New York was sworn in as governor in a brief, private ceremony in the New York State Capitol overseen by the state’s chief judge, Janet DiFiore.

No fewer than seven persons have been confirmed dead after Afghans trying to flee the country gathered near the Kabul airport, Britain's ministry of defence said on Sunday.
This comes as thousands of people try to flee Afghanistan and the threats posed by a new Taliban regime, FRANCE24 and AFP report.
Afghans have been crowding the Kabul airport in a desperate dash to flee the country after the Taliban took over.
"Our sincere thoughts are with the families of the seven Afghan civilians who have sadly died in crowds in Kabul," the UK defence ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
"Conditions on the ground remain extremely challenging but we are doing everything we can to manage the situation as safely and securely as possible."
Tens of thousands of Afghans were still racing to flee on Sunday as the United States warned of security threats at Kabul's airport gates.
At least 20 people have been killed in and around the single-runway airfield since last Sunday, a NATO official said Sunday.
But terrified Afghans continue to try and flee, deepening a tragedy at Kabul airport where the United States and its allies have been unable to cope with the huge numbers of people trying to get on evacuation flights.
Britain's Sky News on Saturday aired footage of at least three bodies covered in white tarpaulin outside the airport. It was not clear how they had died. Sky reporter Stuart Ramsay, who was at the airport, called the deaths "inevitable" and said people were being "crushed" while others were "dehydrated and terrified".
Families hoping for a miracle crowded between the barbed wire that surrounds an unofficial no man's land separating the Taliban from US troops. Roads to the airport were choked with traffic.
US President Joe Biden has described the situation as "one of the largest, most difficult airlifts in history".
Circumstances were further complicated on Saturday when the US government warned its citizens in Afghanistan to avoid travelling to Kabul airport, citing "potential security threats" near its gates.
"We are advising US citizens to avoid traveling to the airport and to avoid airport gates at this time unless you receive individual instructions from a US government representative," the alert from the US embassy in Kabul said.
The warning gave no further details but a White House official later said aides had briefed Biden on local "counterterrorism operations", including against the Islamic State group.
As thousands of Americans and Afghans wait at the airport for flights or gather nervously outside its gates, there have been "sporadic" reports, confirmed by the Pentagon, of Taliban fighters or other militants beating and harassing people trying to flee.
The Biden administration said Sunday that commercial aircraft would be marshalled to help ferry people who have been evacuated from Afghanistan under the Civil Reserve Airfleet agreement – a partnership between the aviation industry, the Defense Department and the US Department of Transportation.
A Pentagon spokesman said the 18 aircraft – including from United, American Airlines, and Delta – would not fly into Kabul but be used to transport people who have already left Afghanistan.
Biden will provide an update on Sunday on the evacuation of American citizens and refugees from Afghanistan, the White House said. The president is to speak at 4pm EDT (2000 GMT), after meeting with his national security team to hear intelligence, security and diplomatic updates on the evolving situation in Afghanistan.
The US military said an Afghan woman gave birth aboard an Air Force C-17 upon landing at Ramstein Air Base in Germany after experiencing complications during the flight on Saturday. The military’s Air Mobility Command tweeted that airmen helped during the delivery of the child in the cargo bay of the aircraft. "The baby girl and mother were transported to a nearby medical facility and are in good condition," a later tweet said."
How Afghanistan Fell Weeks After Obasanjo Attended Peace Meeting In Kabul
To avert the imminent collapse of the war-torn country with 39 million people and promote peace and stability, Olusegun Obasanjo had travelled to Kabul and met with some leaders of the country.

Days ago, on Sunday, the Islamic militant group known as the Taliban retook Kabul, Afghanistan’s capital city, but the fall of the landlocked Asian country had been seen by many observers when US President Joe Biden started the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan beginning in early July.
To avert the imminent collapse of the war-torn country with 39 million people and promote peace and stability, ex-Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, had in July travelled to Kabul and met with some leaders of the country as well as envoys of neighbouring countries.
Obasanjo, unarguably one of the prestigious global citizens from Africa, had met with the Ambassador of Pakistan to Afghanistan, Mansoor Ahmad Khan, members of the Aga Khan Development Network, as well as other diplomatic representatives. AKDN is an international organisation which “brings together a number of development agencies, institutions, and programmes that work primarily in the poorest parts of Asia and Africa”.
Announcing Obasanjo’s presence at the meeting in Kabul on July 5, Khan had in a tweet captioned a photo, “Today, frank discussions at lunch with former President of Nigeria, Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, hosted by AKDN Ambassador, (Hijri) Sheherzade, about promoting long term peace, stability, reconciliation and development in Afghanistan.”
Obasanjo, Nigeria’s democratically elected President between 1999 and 2007, had been instrumental to the restoration of peace in many parts of Africa including Liberia, Sudan, Ethiopia, amongst others.
The former Nigerian military head of state between July 1975 and February 1976 had sat on many peace committees including those of the United Nations, African Union and Economic Community of West African States.
Obasanjo is a global peace personality -Secondus
Speaking of Obasanjo’s “peace wand”, embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, on Thursday, described the ex-President as a “global personality, resolving issues across the world. In fact, the last place I learnt Baba visited was Afghanistan; despite the situation in that country, he went there and came back alive.”
Secondus ran to Obasanjo in his Abeokuta home on Thursday to save him from his many troubles within the party.
Though it appeared the octogenarian was unable to pull his “peace wand” in Afghanistan, only time would tell whether Obasanjo’s “peace touch” would work for Secondus whom some party chieftains want out as chairman.

Nigeria, Next Target of Taliban – Simon Ekpa Warns

Ekpa who is one of the disciples of the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu made the allegation on Thursday via a post on his official Facebook page.
He called on world leaders and international organizations to ensure that the country is not overran by terrorist groups.

Woman Faces Jail Term For Launching Hate Campaign Against Herself

A 38-year-old woman has been has been handed a 6 months sentence for launching a hate campaign against herself, causing police to waste hundreds of hours after they thought she was targeted.
Carly Buckingham-Smith, sent herself abusive texts and graffitied her own house. She then told police she was being targeted by "Asian males" when in fact she’d made the whole thing up.
She used her own phone to send threatening messages like: "I am going to tie you up and slit your throat and watch you bleed."
In another, a threat was made to "put petrol through her letterbox and set it alight".
She even scrawled offensive graffiti all over her own house.
The cleaner, from Eastleigh, Hampshire, made 11 witness statements to police concerning the texts, claiming she was being harassed.
So, police fitted alarms and cameras at her home in an effort to catch those she claimed were harassing her.
But it was later discovered she had been lying.
She was charged with perverting the course of justice.
A jury at Southampton Crown Court found her guilty and she’s now been jailed for six months.
The court heard how Buckingham-Smith initially made a complaint against an Uber driver, which was dismissed by police.
She then claimed she was being harassed and was facing "intimidating behaviour" linked to the driver.
But police soon established she was making "false complaints and was attention-seeking".
When interviewed about her "fictitious reports" of arson attacks and men banging on her door in the night, she made no comment.
Judge Nicholas Rowland called her campaign "nasty" and added that a "great deal" of police time had been wasted.
He said police spent 69 hours investigating Buckingham-Smith’s "fabricated and spurious allegations" and a further 500 hours surrounding her own criminal case.
Uganda To Take In 2,000 Afghan Refugees

The new Afghan arrivals will be tested for COVID-19 before they are sent to isolation centres, Ms Anyakun says.
