Massimiliano Allegri who is an Italian professional football manager and former player currently in charge of Serie A club Juventus could be hired by English club, Arsenal.

Massimiliano Allegri

Arsene Wenger is entering his last week as Gunners boss and the club’s hierarchy have already begun the process of appointing his successor.

According to the UK Independent, Arsenal are conscious of the need for a manager who “galvanises” the fanbase.

Even though some at the club feel they should do what they did with Wenger in 1996 and opt for a promising but lesser known name, there is a feeling the new man must excite the supporters.

Allegri has won three Italian titles in a row and is on the brink of a fourth, but has also taken Juve to two Champions League finals.

Negotiating with the Serie A champions could be tricky, however, although Allegri is said to be considering another challenge and is interested in the job.

The members of the house of representatives have begun looking into the extrajudicial killing of a Nigeria student by police officers.
Ifeanyi Okafor

According to a report by punch metro, the House of Representatives has ordered an investigation into the alleged extrajudicial killing of a student, Ifeanyi Okafor, by the police for allegedly refusing to yield to a N500 bribe demand.

The House said the police shot Okafor on February 9, 2018 in Okwelle, in the Onuimo Local Government Area of Imo State.

The resolution to probe the incident followed a motion moved by the Chairman, House Committee on Aviation, Mrs. Nkeiruka  Onyejeocha, who said a police team stopped the victim on the highway to demand the bribe.

The proceedings of the House, which was obtained by Punch Metro in Abuja on Monday, indicated that Onyejeocha narrated the incident to lawmakers on the floor of the House.

She said, “It is a pathetic story. This boy did not have money to pay for his school fees.

“His father, who is poor, was the one who advised Okafor to assist a lorry driver as a ‘motor boy’ in order to make some money for his fees.

“On their way to Okigwe to deliver sand, the police team stopped their lorry.

“The policemen demanded N500, but the boy said they didn’t have the money.

“The next thing was that a policeman pointed a gun at Okafor and shot him.

“This is one extrajudicial killing too many in recent years.”

The House noted that the incident was in breach of Section 33 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which guaranteed all Nigerians right to life.

Lawmakers had raised the alarm over rising cases of extrajudicial killings in the country, saying between 2009 and 2017, such reported cases totalled 337.

“Amnesty International Special Report for 2016/2017 indicated that 240 civilians, including 29 children and babies, were killed by operatives of Nigerian security agencies, especially the army and the police,” a document tendered before the House, stated.

The copy of the House proceedings showed that the Committee on Police Affairs was mandated to investigate the killing of Okafor.

It said, “The House was informed of the unfortunate and unwarranted killing of the late Ifeanyi Okafor by a police officer right opposite the Okwelle Police Station in Onuimo Local Government Area, Imo State.

“The House was also informed that on February 9, 2018, the said police officer demanded the sum of N500 from the deceased, but when his demand was not met, the police officer fatally shot Okafor.

“(The House is) worried that many incidents of extrajudicial killings by security agents in Nigeria often go unchecked and largely unreported.

“The House recalls a recent outcry against similar extrajudicial killings by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad across the country, which made the police authorities to promise to reorganise the SARS.

“(The House) observes that extrajudicial killings erode the confidence of Nigerians in the Nigeria Police Force, and this distrust has a direct adverse effect on the cooperation between the police and the public to combat crimes.”

The Senior Pastor at Worksword of God Church, Pastor Gabriel Adegboye, has claimed that God told him President Muhammadu Buhari has only four years to be Nigeria's leader.

Speaking while addressing journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital over the past weekend, a cleric, Pastor Gabriel Adegboye, declared himself as the next president of the country, saying it was through divine revelation.

According to Nigerian Tribune, the man of God stated that God had revealed to him that the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari would last only four years, adding that he had spiritual impartation of resolving the killings in the North-East and other parts of the country, as well as ensuring economic development.

While describing Boko Haram as a spiritual attack on the country from North Africa, Adegboye said he had the solution to end terrorist attacks in the North-East, within three months alongside other members of his Save Nigeria 2019 movement

When asked on what platform he intended to contest, he said the movement was negotiating with political parties and would adopt the party that agreed with its agenda.

“God sent me to become the next president of Nigeria. Over the years, God has been speaking to me and I have been communicating to past presidents, even the incumbent president, concerning the way to resolve the crisis in the country and ensure economic development. God has given me the new agenda for this country.

“We have all it takes to take the presidential seat come 2019. God has revealed to me that the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari is only four years. And the next person that will take over the mantle of leadership is Pastor Gabriel Adegboye.

“If the Federal Government needs solution to the challenges in the country today, if I am invited, I promise that within three months, there will be peace in the North-East,” he said.

While responding on whether the movement had the needed variables to embark on the political processes, he said the movement boasted of 39 million members.

Adegboye, however, urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reduce the cost of nomination form, so as to engender more participation by Nigerians willing to contest to be president.

Political juggernauts in Ekiti State, South-western part of Nigeria have taken to desperate measures to intimidate their opponent as the gubernatorial race featuring over 30 aspirants intensifies.

The crisis generated by the botched governorship primary election took a different dimension, on Monday as some protesters sealed off the party’s secretariat in Ado Ekiti and laced the sealed gates with juju.

They had padlocked the gates of the secretariat and at the foot of the gate in its front, they had poured palm oil to form a circle and broke fresh eggs in and around the oily circle.

The protesters said they were demanding the immediate dissolution of the party’s state executive council, led by the chairman, Chief Olajide Awe.

The group of APC protesters, which said they were known as Ekiti APC Stakeholders, said they reposed no confidence in the party’s executive and announced that a caretaker committee is put in place to take over the affairs of the party.

Speaking on behalf of the protesters, Mr Adeoyo Aribasoye, said they were relying on the constitution of the party, which he said permitted them to do away with the executive, and added that Mr Kayode Egunjobi had been appointed as chairman of the caretaker committee.

He said “the Ekiti APC executive has moved for a consensus candidate, which is against the constitution of our party.
The executive has also openly displayed support for an aspirant. These actions are against the constitution and that is why we are passing a vote of no confidence on the Jide Awe-led executive. We want them to step aside and a caretaker committee to be inaugurated.”

Questions are currently being asked about President Muhammadu Buhari's fitness again as the President journeys to the UK to have a date with his foreign doctors.

President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Tuesday embark on a four-day medical trip to the United Kingdom.

According to a statement on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President’s trip is at the instance of his doctor.

He said Buhari would return to the country on Saturday. The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari will tomorrow (Tuesday) undertake a four-day trip to the United Kingdom.

“In the course of the technical stop-over for aircraft maintenance in London on his way back from Washington last week, the President had a meeting with his doctor.

“The doctor requested the President to return for a meeting, which he agreed to do.

“President Buhari will return on Saturday, May 12th.

“On his return, the President’s two-day state visit to Jigawa State, which was postponed because of the All Progressives Congress’ ward congresses, will now take place on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th of May.”

Buhari had, between February 5 and 10, 2016, embarked on a six-day vacation to London.

On June 6, 2016, he embarked on another 10-day vacation to attend to an ear infection.

Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, had explained then that Buhari was battling with what he called “persistent ear infection.”

Adesina had said that although the President had been examined and treated by his personal physician and a specialist in Abuja, both doctors advised him to go for a further evaluation as a precaution.

He said the President would, therefore, use the 10-day break to see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist in London.

Buhari returned to Nigeria on June 19, 2016, after spending 14 days in London.

He again left the country on January 19, 2017, on what the Presidency described then as a medical vacation.

When the trip was prolonged, presidential aides announced that the President would be staying back in the British capital to enable him to collect results of some medical tests he did.

Buhari returned to the country on March 10, 2017, after a 49-day medical sojourn, saying he had never been that sick in his life.

He then gave an indication that he would return to London for further check-up.

After missing public events, including three consecutive weekly Federal Executive Council meetings which raised anxiety in the country, Buhari on May 7, 2017, returned to London for medical consultation.

He returned to the country on August 19, 2017.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party has asked President Buhari to stop deceiving Nigerians about his health and other national issues.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, who spoke with one of Punch correspondents, said it was a pity that the President lied to Nigerians about the stop over he had in London a few days ago.

He said, “The President should stop deceiving Nigerians about his health and other issues.

“Why did he lie that he merely had a technical stop over in London?  He should take Nigerians and Nigeria seriously.

“He could be sick, but he should also know that Nigerians are the ones maintaining his health for him. So, he should tell them the truth all the time

“We also hope he has transmitted a letter to the National Assembly about this trip.  If he didn’t,  that is going against the Constitution.”

According to Alex who lives in Makurdi, Benue state capital, his sister’s right eye started with some pains before degenerating to the level where she can’t see again with it.

Residents of Sapele in Delta State have been gripped by tension and fear after human body parts were reportedly found in different parts of town.
File photo used only for illustrative purpose

In a new report by Daily Post, it has been revealed that human body parts were recently found in Sapele community in Delta State, on Thursday unsettled its residents who have raised the alarm over fear of the unknown.

It was gathered that the human parts were dumped at every nooks and cranny in Sapele, especially along new Ogoride road, and Ogbimi drive in the town; a situation the residents called on the security agents to investigate.

Mr. Mohammed Mustafa, the Delta State Police Commissioner, who confirmed the discovery of the human parts to Daily Post, said; “We got report from the Sapele Police Division of the human parts discovered in some parts of the town, we have ordered security beef up, and a full scale investigation into the incident, in order to bring those behind the acts to book”.

Reports said that the human parts were also discovered in a Makeshift building wrapped into different cellophane(s), woods and raffia palm.

But a resident, Omonigho Mabel who spoke to Daily Post said; “The makeshift had been an abode of some madmen, and unknown residents, in fact ritualists too use the abode, we went to the police to investigate the acts, we are afraid in the situation”.

Meanwhile, the police Image Maker in the state, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, has said that one person has been arrested, adding that the suspect was currently being detained at the Sapele Police Division for further investigation.

DSP Aniamaka said; “It was Okada riders who discovered the makeshift building where their remained parts were also discovered, they smell offensive odor emitting and they move into the building, only for them to discover human parts put into cellophane, they alerted the police who then swing into action”.

Sources said on the discovery to the makeshift building, two mad men jumped out and took to their heels, but the police went after them, and they were apprehended.

A senator and member of the All Progressives Congress has said his party and the opposition cannot take Nigeria to the promised land.
Shehu Sani

The senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the Senate, Shehu Sani has said Nigeria cannot be taken to the promised land by the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party.

He said there is a need for the emergence of a new political party, peopled mainly by the intellectuals, the working class and the youths, for Nigeria to be rescued.

According to Punch, Sani said that is the only option for the country if we are to make progress.

Sani, who is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, said the integrity of President Muhammadu Buhari, around which the APC built its government, was not enough to govern a plural country like Nigeria.

According to him, integrity is just a small fraction of what is needed to lead a country like Nigeria, stressing also that “fighting corruption cannot be the only objective or the idea and only focus of a government.”

Sani spoke on Thursday as a guest speaker at a symposium organised by the Magodo Associates.

The symposium with the theme, “Nigeria: Which way forward?” held at the Afe Babalola Auditorium, University of Lagos and had Prof. Akin Oyebode as the chairman.

Others speakers at the event were a chieftain of the National Democratic Coalition, Dr. Amos Akingba, Lagos-based preacher, Pastor Tunde Bakare, who was represented by Mr. Femi Lawson; Maj. Gen. Ishola Williams (retd.), Secretary of the Magodo Associates, Dr. Babafemi Badejo, and Mrs. Ada Agina-Ude.

The chairman of the Magodo Associates, Prof. Funso Akere, in his welcome remarks, explained that the symposium was aimed at “heightening the debate about the future of Nigeria.”

He said the speakers, who are people that had experienced the good and the ills of the country, were selected in order to give the young people insight into the country’s past and how to approach the future.

Speaking, Sani said while Buhari demonstrated his integrity by declaring his assets, many of the people in his government could not do the same.

“What we have here is one man whose major asset is integrity but how many within that camp can also beat their chests and say they are as credible as he is?

“We are talking about building a nation and moving it forward, but can just the integrity of the President move the nation to the Promised Land? When we are talking about the qualities of leadership, if only integrity and credibility is what you need to be in public office… integrity or credibility is just one of so many things a leader needs, especially in a troublesome country like Nigeria; there as lot of things a leader needs. We need a leader that can give every person the confidence that he is going to be fair and just. We also need a leader who is visionary, who can move the country from where it is to where it should be,” Sani said.

He charged the people in the academia not be afraid of participating in politics, saying it was the only way forward.

He said, “The intellectuals need to move forward; you need not be scared of the political terrain. Most people you see in political offices, outside they say they are representing the people, but they represent an individual, a certain power broker. The existing dominant political parties cannot lead us to the Promised Land; there is a need for a progressive political class to come together, reach out to the academics, the intelligentsia, the working class, come out together with a party that is run on a certain ideology.”

In his contribution, Akingba said the colonialists were to blame for the country’s stunted development, because, according to him, at independence, they handed over the country to the Fulani, who were least interested in development.

“The Fulani were the ones the British gave Nigeria to as an estate. From independence, they rigged the election in favour of the caliphate. They gave it to the one who does not want modernisation or modernity. In fact, when we were going too fast for them, they invented Boko Haram. For as long as all this continue to happen, so long will there be retrogression,” Akingba said.

According to Akingba, the delay by President Buhari to form his cabinet after he was sworn in in 2015 was part of the script to slow Nigeria down.

“They said Buhari was a bit late in forming his cabinet; he’s happy. Why should he rush?” Akingba said, declaring that, “Our incompetence are in charge (sic).”

Williams, on his own part, blamed the citizens for electing the wrong set of people to lead them.

“Idiots do not choose wise people to lead them. Something is wrong with followership in Nigeria,” he said.

According to him, America is more corrupt than Nigeria but unlike in Nigeria, there is no impunity in America.

Speaking through Lawson, Bakare faulted Buhari’s stance that what the country should focus on was the process of governance and not to restructure the nation.

Bakare insisted that the country’s political structure was faulty, stressing that a bad structure could not support anything good.

He criticised the discordant tunes being sung by President Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on the call for the creation of state police. He noted that while Osinbajo had declared that Nigeria needed state police, Buhari, this week, said there was no need for it.

It appears that age might not be on the side of the Lagos graduate State University, Cossy Ojiakor as her looks don't seem to agree with the official age declared.

Cossy Ojiakor

Social media users believe Cossy Ojiakor who hails from Anambra State, South-eastern part of the country might have falsified her age as it's been done in sports and entertainment in Nigeria.

Pictures from the recent burial of her father in her hometown have further exposed the gap between the declared and original ages.

In the pictures seen here, Cossy who claims to be 33, was looking like the mother of one adult. Meanwhile, there is also the possibility that her mourning state and native dress must have contributed to her elderly looks.

Cossy Ojiakor is also a singer, producer and video vixen. She came to limelight after featuring in a music video by Obesere. She is also controversially known for showing off her large bosoms at social events and music videos.

"One of the women is called Ajara. She sells herbs and keeps gun for robbers. The other woman, Odunku, also used to hire guns out to bad guys in the area,” Adebayo recounted:

“We used to rob people of their phones and laptops in the hotel. After the hotel robbery, I was given two phones; one IPhone 7 and one ordinary phone. If the police grant me pardon and release me, I promise to go back to my village in Ekiti State.

"I’ll go to my village to farm, rather than continue to stay in Lagos State. I have suffered. Even as a cyclist, I couldn’t make enough money to support myself and my parents.”

The suspect advised young people to desist from crime. This was even as he urged those planning to go into robbery and those already in the crime to repent.

Diners having a good time inside a restaurant have been giving the shock of their lives when a cooked fish moved.
The fish leaps completely clear of the serving bowl and lands on the restaurant table

A group of diners were left stunned after they watched a cooked fish appear to come back to life and leap out of the plate on the table.

Mobile footage appears to show a flatfish served up in bowl of soya sauce and vegetables, wiggle and then jump about.

Two men can be seen jumping out of their chairs and they are taken aback by the fish that seems to have come back from the dead.

The video believed to be filmed in China, has been uploaded to Youku, a Chinese equivalent of YouTube, on May 2.

According to IFL Science the movement is due to a chemical reaction that stimulates the fish's muscle tissue.

The site said: "The fish’s brains are very much dead, but most of their tissue is very much alive in these viral videos."

Charles Grisham, a chemistry professor at the University of Virginia explained to Discovery News that even though the fish actually dead, most of its tissue is still alive.

He said: "Even though the brain function is missing, the tissues will still respond to stimuli."

Adding things like salt or soya sauce can cause muscle spasms in recently killed fish causing muscles to contract.
