A man has been found out to have chained his own twin daughters for as many as ten years and tortured them in the process.
Jerry Lee Curry

Jerry Lee Curry, a 51-year-old man has been charged with repeatedly r*ping his twin daughters in an ordeal that lasted for at least 10 years.

According to Metro UK, Jerry Lee Curry is accused of chaining his daughters up for 10 years, starving and beating them at their home in Minneapolis.

He is said to have tortured them repeatedly with long stretches of captivity, tied down with chains. One of them suffered gangrene as a result of the chains and needed surgery to save her feet.

The daughters are said to be in their 20s and suffer from diminished mental and behavioural capacity. It was only when one of the twins escaped and managed to alert authorities that their abuse came to an end.

The girls’ mother, 48, has not yet been located and Curry is also facing charges of beating their 10-year-old daughter. However, their parents are said to have used their social security money to buy drugs and alcohol.

According to the Star Tribune one of the girls said that the abuse started when her parents found out that she was s*xually active.

The incident took place in this house

He put a dog chain around her ankles and tied it to his bedroom door. The second twin fell pregnant twice and told her rescuers that she doesn’t ‘ever remember having enough food’

She added: ‘He forced me to have sex, [and] he has done this to me every day since I was [in my] early teens or so. He did this to my twin sister also.’
‘It feel[s] so good today to not be chained to the bed.’

One of the victims suffered a ‘largely detached’ left ear and she was found to have scars on her forehead, scalp and back.

She said that her father had beat her with a bat and a paddle.

The 10-year-old girl said that she was forced to beat her twin sisters with a stick, but she was not found with signs of physical abuse.

A young barber who was caught after robbing an aluminium technician of his Nissan Pathfinder, was Wednesday in Lagos, sentenced to 42 years in prison.

The jailed barber
A Lagos High Court in Igbosere has sentenced an apprentice barber, Samuel Edet, to 42 years in prison for robbery, according to The Nation.
Justice Sedoten Ogunsanya convicted Edet of robbing an aluminium technician Adewale Elelo of his Nissan Pathfinder on February 21, 2012.
She sentenced him to 21 years imprisonment for conspiracy to commit robbery and another 21 years for robbery.
The sentences, which were without an option of a fine, will run concurrently, meaning Edet will spend only 21 years in jail.
Edet, from Akwa Ibom State, was arraigned on April 27, 2015, on a two-count charge of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.
Prosecuting counsel Haroun Adebayo said the offences contravened sections 297 and 295(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Edet pleaded not guilty.
During a nearly three-year trial, Elelo testified that the incident occurred on June 15, 2012 between 10 and 11pm.
Elelo said: “I was returning from a C & S Church after a revival when, at St. Paul Street, along Agbado Road, leaving Toyin Bus Stop, the second street by the left, I saw a black Jeep waiting ahead of me. I drove towards it slowly and the car flashed its full headlights at me. I became afraid.
“He (Edet) alighted from the Jeep and accosted me, asking me to alight and demanded for my key. He asked me to get into the boot of my vehicle, but I ran away and pressed the remote control of my vehicle that was in my pocket.
“I got to a police check point at Toyin Bus Stop and alerted the police that I had been robbed. The policemen and passers-by came to my rescue and found the defendant in the car because the remote control had made the car immovable.”
According to Elelo, Edet’s accomplices zoomed off as soon as the crowd arrived.
But Edet denied the allegations. He described himself as the victim of police illegal arrest.
Edet said: “I live at Ajegunle and work as an apprentice barber. I was on my way to look for a shop or work when at Ojuelegba Bus Stop I saw people running and shouting ‘Ole’ ‘Ole’ meaning thief, thief and I was arrested and taken to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), where the police wrote something on paper and asked me to sign.”
According to Edet, he was threatened that if he refused to sign he would be shot; hence, be signed.
But Justice Ogunsanya held that Elelo’s testimony, as well as that of the other eyewitnesses were credible.
She observed that there were several inconsistencies in Edet’s testimony, including his statement that he was looking for a shop or work at about 10:30pm on the night of the robbery.
The judge said: “The court believes the witnesses’ evidence that it is the defendant that stole the car. The victim positively identified the defendant as the person who robbed him.”
The court also noted that in Edet’s written statement to the police, he confessed to the crime, and that the confessional statement was not challenged by his counsel when it was tendered in court by the prosecution.
Justice Ogunsanya said: “The court is satisfied that the defendant is as guilty as charged.”

While some of the girls had been returning to the school, 46 were said to be missing.

On sighting him, the crowd who had apparently prepared for him, threw stones at his convoy, injuring some of his aides, as well as government officials.

The security men attached to the governor had to use tear gas to disperse the angry crowd who also destroyed seven vehicles in the convoy.

Many officials in the convoy were seen with bloodstained clothes as they were injured in the attack.

One of the journalists in the convoy, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said a cameraman was also injured.

He said: “We were in fear as the residents continued to throw stones to protest against government’s handling of the girls’ abduction.

“The angry residents ignored the tear gas as they vandalised seven vehicles in our convoy.

“From the little information that we got, they were angry that the Yobe State Government deceived Nigerians that the schoolgirls had been rescued when nobody was rescued.

“Some of them told the governor to present the girls that were rescued.”

It was gathered that the governor had to leave the town in a hurry to forestall any disaster.

While speaking to a correspondent, a source close to the deceased, said the assailants, had accused him of giving information to the police on their cult activities, adding that as Bolaji was going to join a patrol van that would take him and his colleagues to their respective duty posts, the gun-wielding assailants opened fire on him.

The source said, “He was on night duty. He had left his house in uniform, not knowing that some people had been trailing him. On his way to meet his colleagues, who had been waiting for him in an operational van, they shot at him.

“He ran towards a bar to seek protection, but they continued the shooting. People who were watching the Champions League match between Manchester United and Sevilla at that time fled.

“The hoodlums eventually held him at a pole in front of the bar and stabbed him in the neck. He was rushed to a hospital in the community, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. The gang accused him of being a police informant.”

A security agent, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the gang had threatened the victim that he would not see the end of February.

“We don’t have any clue that he had any issue with those hoodlums until he was killed. I learnt that the cult members had threatened to kill him before the end of this month. I don’t think he took their threat seriously,” the official said.

A colleague of the deceased described him as a diligent and intelligent officer, saying that his death was a great loss to his family and the corps.

She said, “I was very sad when I visited his family today (Thursday). He is survived by a pregnant wife, two children of about five and three years old, respectively and parents. Monsuru (Bolaji) was a dedicated and courageous officer and he would be greatly missed.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, confirmed the murder in a statement on Thursday, adding that the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, had visited the deceaded’s family.

“Similarly, the CP paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased. In his message to the bereaved family, the CP told them that the entire Lagos State Police Command shared in their grief and assured them that the command would leave no stone unturned to  unravel the killers of the late Monsuru Bolaji.”

The PPRO stated that the command had commenced investigation into the case and three suspects had been arrested, adding that the CP had deployed operatives in the area to beef up security.

“To this end, the CP directed a contingent of Special Anti-Robbery Squad personnel and the personnel of the command’s Anti-Cultism Squad to relocate to Census Police Outpost, Aguda, Surulere, with immediate effect.

A rare fish that can walk around at the bottom of the sea with hand-like flippers has been discovered.
A remarkable fish that can walk with hand-like flippers has been caught on camera.
The footage shows the red handfish lying on the ocean floor.
It uses its two fins to walk on the surface as if they were hands.
There were only thought to be around 20-40 fish remaining, off the coast of Tasmania.
But, last month, scientists from the region found a new group – which included the creature seen in the video.
Divers from the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) launched a search mission using third-hand GPS coordinates after a tip-off from a member of the public.
“Just by chance, I saw the end of a tail of a red handfish hidden under some algae and that was it,”IMAS diver Antonia Cooper said.

“We were diving for approximately three and a half hours and at about the two-hour mark we were all looking at each other thinking this is not looking promising.

“My dive partner went to tell the other divers that we were going to start heading in and I was half-heartedly flicking algae around when, lo and behold, I found a red handfish.
“Finding a new population that is definitely distinct from the existing one is very exciting.

“It means there's potentially a bigger gene pool and also that there are potentially other populations out there that we're yet to find, so it's very exciting indeed.”
There are believed to be a further 20-40 handfish at the undisclosed location, effectively doubling the creature’s population.

Folorunso Alakija who was once rated as Africa's richest woman has shared a part of her life story many people do not know about. Folorunso Alakija One of Africa's richest female billionaires, Folorunso Alakija has shared a very motivational story about her life. The woman revealed that she came from a Muslim home and was 8 out of 52 children. Writing on her social media page, Alakija said that made her money without any university degree. She wrote: "I would like to encourage you on my encounter with the Glory of God. It happened almost 27 years ago when I gave my life to Christ at the age of 40 and my life has not been the same ever since, I pray your life too, will experience a total turn around. I was born almost 67 years ago, into a large and illustrious polygamous Muslim family as number 8 out of 52 children through a father who had 8 wives. Back then large families were common, but what was unusual was that I was one of the very first few Nigerian children who left it’s shores to go and study abroad at such a tender age of 7. Even at that age, I knew I could not afford to let my family down cause I was seen as an ambassador. My desire was to study law but my Daddy did not believe in investing in girls at that time. Today, I have no university degree, but God’s glory lifted me up and I have received numerous Honorary Doctorate Degrees at home and abroad. All of what you now see today has taken almost two and a half decades, so I am not an overnight success. On the contrary. Through God’s grace, I am a blood bought totally forgiven, absolutely redeemed, heaven bound child of God. I have had to make sacrifices like everyone else, faced challenges but never given up. I have not compromised myself, my values or my faith. GLORY BE TO GOD."
