Bullet Strikes Pregnant Woman In Her Stomach As Gunmen Attack Boat In Bayelsa

A pregnant woman and another persons have been shot after some gunmen attacked a boat in a community in Bayelsa.
It has been reported that some gunmen, suspected to be sea pirates, have attacked a Yenagoa-bound passenger boat, shooting two passengers – a pregnant woman and a youth.
It was learnt that the pregnant woman, Gulu Leghemo, was shot in the stomach.
According to Punch Metro, it was gathered that Leghemo and the youth, identified only as Billy, had been rushed to a medical facility in Koluama 2, in the Southern Ijaw Local Goverment Area of Bayelsa State.
The boat was said to be travelling from Koluama to Yenagoa, the state capital, when the pirates struck between Koluama 1 and 2 area of the waterways.
The Chairman, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Bayelsa State chapter, Lloyd Sese, who confirmed the incident, said the pirates also went away with 200 horsepower engine boat belonging to one Sunday Leghemo as well as the belongings of the passengers.
“The passengers have been rescued and taken to Koluama 2,” he added.
He, however, raised the alarm that the pirates blocked the Akassa route of the waterways in the early hours of Thursday, saying the development had prevented passengers from travelling to Yenagoa.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, said the command had yet to receive any report on the attack.
