Senator Godswill Akpabio of the Peoples Democratic Party has resigned from his position as minority leader.

Senator Godswill Akpabio has reportedly tendered his resignation letter as Minority Leader of the Senate,
Nigerian Tribune has reported.
In a letter dated August 4 and addressed to the Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Emmanuel Bwacha, Akpabio did not state any reason for his resignation.
Akpabio however thanked the senate Minority leadership and referred to the PDP as “our great party”, “for giving him the opportunity to lead the caucus for three years.”
